ABOUT JAMES
|
James Eyers was tragically killed in a road accident on the 22nd March 2007 at the age of 27. James was a much loved fiancé, son, brother and friend, he was a local man, who was born and grew up in Frome and who lived life to the full. He was a keen rugby player, playing for Frome RFC and was due to be married on the 9th August 2008. In memory of James, we intend to raise money by taking part in the Bath Half Marathon for the Dorothy House Foundation which runs the local hospice for the terminally ill. It offers a free service to the community with equal access to all. Their aim is to offer physical, psychological, social and spiritual care to patients and their families facing life threatening illness, death or bereavement, who have specific problems which need specialist skills. Cancer Research and specifically Dorothy House was a charity close to James heart as Dorothy house cared for two of his close friends parents before their passing and one he donated to on a monthly basis. |

Owen Hillier's Account of His Grandson James's Life A Beloved Son, Brother, Fiancé and Grandson James was born at the Frome Victoria Hospital on 1st September 1979. When old enough he attended Mrs. Mary Smith's Playschool at Portway, Frome. His formal education began at 4 to 5 years at Hayesdown School, the Selwood Middle School and later Frome College including the sixth form. Finally he went to Glamorgan University where he obtained a degree in Sports Science. While there, and as a change from studying, he enrolled and became a part-time Firefighter. Having obtained a degree, his career took a different direction into accountancy. He secured a position with Price Waterhouse Cooper in Bristol. While working there he studied Taxation, eventually becoming a Chartered Tax Consultant. He later joined a small firm of specialists, Marcussen, where he was very happy, and where he stayed until his very tragic accident. It was obvious that James would be involved in administration, because at an early age he would collect all sorts of writing paper which he would store in bags or cases in the drawers under his bed. He would know instantly if a piece was missing. Matthew, his elder brother, said that had there been a fire, the whole house would would have ignited. For many years before university, James was very much involved in the Scout movement in Frome. During his short life he passed every exam he sat except one. He failed his driving test the first time and had to re-take. James had everything going for him: his job, his friends, and more importantly he found Tamara, who was and always will be, the love of his life. They had bought their own house, and most exciting of all, were to have been married in this church in August 2008. James was a very special person who always had a smile. He loved life, and was respected and loved by all who had the good fortune to meet him. Him passing is devastating to our families, and will leave a void, but he will never be forgotten. May God bless him and take care of him.
